How to prepare for LinkedIn

This LinkedIn preparation guide is a practical 2026 plan for fresher / campus / off-campus drives. Product-company bar: medium-hard DSA, clean code, and projects you can defend. Domain flavor varies by company.

LinkedIn shortlists people who ship correct code fast and explain product-minded trade-offs.

  • DSA 50%
  • CS + projects 25%
  • Behavioral 15%
  • Mocks 10%

Patterns are candidate-reported and vary by role and drive. Confirm your invite mailer.

Week Focus Exit criteria
1-2 Core filter skills for this company type Baseline mock score logged
3-4 Coding / technical depth Can explain solutions aloud
5-6 Domain + projects Resume stories measurable
7-8 Full mocks + interviews Weak topics closed
  1. One timed practice block (aptitude or coding, matching LinkedIn’s filter)
  2. Write mistakes in an error log (topic + why)
  3. Re-solve yesterday’s misses cold
  4. 10 minutes of resume/project narration twice a week
  • Skim all questions for 3-4 minutes, then order by confidence
  • Protect accuracy on easy marks before chasing hard ones
  • For coding: invent 3 edge cases before submit
  • Restate the problem, propose brute force, then optimize
  • Tie every CS answer to a project example when possible
  • If stuck, narrate what you would try next
  • Why LinkedIn, why this role, location flexibility, gap explanations
  • Use STAR: Situation, Task, Action, Result (with a number if you have one)
  • One coding language you can debug live
  • Arrays, strings, hashing basics (or aptitude speed if that is the filter)
  • OOPs + DBMS fundamentals
  • Two project explanations (2 minutes each)
  1. Preparing only interviews while failing the first online filter
  2. Collecting notes without timed mocks
  3. Listing five frameworks on the resume and defending none
  4. Ignoring communication practice for HR/manager rounds
  5. Changing language/stack one week before the drive

Next step: Run one timed mock this week that matches LinkedIn’s first filter, then build the 8-week plan around your weakest section.
