| Route | What usually changes | What stays the same |
|---|---|---|
| Campus | Batch written test, PPT, college CGPA list | Java/SQL bar |
| Off-campus Member Technical | Large written pool (one write-up: many applicants → 15 interview shortlists → 5 offers) | Same four-round idea |
| Intern / GPT intern | ~60-70 min screen; 70% academics on some JDs | SQL + OOPs still show up |
| Referral | Resume visibility | You still sit the test |
Off-campus does not mean easier aptitude. It often means a thicker crowd and a steeper written cut.
Is 6.5 CGPA enough? It matches the commonly reported floor on many campus/Member Technical notes. Some intern postings print 70% across 10th, intermediate, and degree or 60%+ with 6.0 CGPA. A 6.6 who can explain joins beats a 8.4 who freezes on polymorphism.
Branches: CS, IT, ECE, AIML/DS on some intern lists. If your college lists only circuit + CS, read the notice.
Backlogs: no active backlogs is the usual line. Communication in English (some intern JDs mention “minimum MTI”) shows up more than at typical service companies - HR will notice.
What helps the resume screen: one Java or Python project you can defend, any SQL you actually wrote, internship with a metric. Listing five frameworks you cannot open in an IDE is how technical rounds die. See certifications after fundamentals.

Marks: 6.5+ CGPA / 65% common; intern JDs vary
Degree: B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA
Backlogs: None active preferred
Year: Final-year; pre-final for some internships
Skills they actually filter
Primary: Aptitude speed, OOPs, SQL
Languages: Java, Python, SQL
Exam filter: ADP written / ADP Pariksha-style test
Differentiator: Payroll/HCM awareness + verbal joins
Good fit: You can finish easy quant in under a minute, you can draw inner vs left join on paper, and you have one Java project whose class design you can defend. Comfortable relocating to Hyderabad or Pune.
Harder path: You only grind LeetCode hard and skip aptitude timers; you cannot explain SQL without an IDE; you treat HR as “tell me about yourself” only; you refuse all three India hubs.

Previous year question papers
ADP does not publish a permanent official paper. “Previous year papers” on this site train the written section clocks and the Java/SQL/DSA themes that interviews reopen - they are not leaked live tests.
| Round (typical) | What to practice |
|---|---|
| Written (80 min classic) | Aptitude 15/15, Logical 25/25, Technical 20/40 |
| HR | PPT memory, motivation, verbal SQL, location |
| Technical | Polymorphism, live coding, HTML/web basics, DBMS |
| Managerial | Binary search, rotated array, semaphore vs mutex, behaviour |
| Theme | What to drill next | Why ADP asks it |
|---|---|---|
| Percentages / DI | 15-minute sprint sets | Written section 1 |
| Syllogisms / arrangements | Skip rules under 25 min | Logical section |
| Polymorphism | Compile vs runtime examples | Technical interview |
| Linked-list add | Carry, reverse, dummy head | Live coding |
| SQL joins | Verbal + query | HR and tech |
| Binary search / rotated array | Boundaries | Managerial |
| Mutex vs semaphore | One real analogy | Managerial OS |
ADP India hires freshers through campus cells, off-campus Member Technical drives, and intern / GPT intern postings. After the written, the shape is unusual compared with most product companies: HR can come before technical, and the last round can be a long managerial with a senior leader.
Campus recruitment
Placement cell registration, PPT, written on campus or virtual, then interview rooms.
Online applications
adp.com / ADP talent network for intern and early-career roles. Follow the invite for duration.
Referrals
Higher resume visibility. You still need the written and SQL.
Checks degree, CGPA/%, backlogs, year. Intern JDs may require 70% across schooling + degree. This is a gate. The written is the first hard filter.
Documented Member Technical (Set 1) pattern:
| Section | Questions | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aptitude | 15 | 15 min | 1 minute each - no lingering |
| Logical ability | 25 | 25 min | 1 mark each in that write-up |
| Technical | 20 | 40 min | 2 marks each - Java, OOPs, DBMS, DSA, OS, CN |
Pass habit: honour section clocks. A brilliant technical section cannot rescue a blank aptitude block if the platform locks sections.
Later intern screens: ~60-70 minutes quant + analytical + computer concepts. Some 2025 campus intern OAs pulled ~990 students virtual, then ~29 onsite.
Student tip: practice 15 questions in 14 minutes once a week until it feels rude, not leisurely. ADP aptitude is a speed gate.
Deeper drills: ADP online assessment.
On the Set 1 Member Technical account, HR asked:
Treat this as elimination. “I like the work culture” without a payroll/HCM sentence is a weak answer. Know that ADP runs global payroll and HCM software and that India is a major build/support hub.
Reported mix:
Narrate. Interviewers watch whether you freeze when the first approach fails.
The long round. Set 1: binary search explanation, search in a right-rotated sorted array, semaphore vs mutex with real-life examples, behavioural expectations. Intern loops may split this into tech manager + senior manager + a shorter HR.
Mutex vs semaphore in one breath: mutex is a single key to a room (ownership); semaphore is a counter of available slots (a parking lot with N spaces). Give a code-shaped example, not only the analogy.
| # | Round | Duration | What they check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Written | 80 min classic / ~60-70 intern | Speed + CS MCQs |
| 2 | HR | ~30 min | Fit, PPT, SQL talk, city |
| 3 | Technical | ~45 min | OOPs, live code, DBMS |
| 4 | Managerial | ~45-60 min | DSA + OS + maturity |
| Phase | Typical duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Apply / campus register | Drive-dependent | PPT week then test |
| Written → interview shortlist | Days | Steep cut off-campus |
| Interview loop | 1 day to 2 weeks | HR may be first |
| Offer / PPO talk | Days after final | Intern PPO is later |
| End to end | ~2-6 weeks often | Internships add a 3-month job before PPO |
| Component | Focus | Prep move this week |
|---|---|---|
| Aptitude 15/15 | Speed | Mock quiz with a 15-min cap |
| Logical 25/25 | Skip hard puzzles | Two 25-min sets |
| Technical 20/40 | Java, OOPs, DBMS | 40 MCQs timed |
| SQL oral | Joins | Explain left join with employees/payroll |
| Live code | Linked list / search | One problem on paper |
| Managerial OS | Mutex vs semaphore | One analogy + one code sketch |

If a ADP invite is 3-8 weeks out, treat this hub as the map and the linked practice pages as the drills. Do not reread eligibility ten times. Check the JD once, then spend hours on the filter that actually rejects people.
Typical fresher CTC chatter for ADP sits around ₹6-11 LPA (candidate-reported - confirm the letter). Languages students mention most often: Java, Python, C, Go. Pick one and stay with it in OA and interviews.
Eligibility reminder (from student reports): ADP eligibility is drive-specific. Common campus/Member Technical / intern reports: B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA in CS, IT, ECE, or related; typically 6.5+ CGPA or 65% (some intern JDs cite 70% across 10th/12th/degree or 60%+ with 6.0 CGPA); no active backlogs; final-year or pre-final for internships. Java or Python plus SQL fluency helps after the academic gate. Always verify the campus mailer or adp.com careers posting.
What you are training for: A well-documented Member Technical cycle: Written test (80 min: Aptitude 15Q/15min, Logical 25Q/25min, Technical 20Q/40min) → HR (~30 min, sometimes before technical) → Technical (~45 min, OOPs + live coding + SQL/web) → Managerial (~60 min, DSA + OS + behavioural, often senior/director-led). Internship/GPT intern loops may use a ~60-70 min screening then 2-3 onsite interviews. End-to-end often 2-6 weeks.
Short version of the prep split: Split time roughly: 30% aptitude+logical speed for the 80-minute written, 30% Java/OOPs + SQL, 25% easy-medium DSA you can narrate, 15% HR/company knowledge (payroll/HCM) and STAR. Do not skip SQL - it shows up in written, HR, and technical. Languages: Java, Python, SQL.
Week 1 - pattern, not vibes. Language fluency: rewrite 10 old solutions in one language until you stop hunting syntax. Open the ADP previous-year sets on this site and mark which sections ate your time. Write the timing on a sticky note. That number is more useful than a 200-problem LeetCode streak you never timed.
Week 2 - the steep filter. Most ADP drives fail people on the first timed paper or OA. Do three timed sits this week. After each one, log every miss in a two-column note: topic and why (slow, wrong formula, bad edge case, panic). The next sit should only add problems from that log.
Week 3 - talk tracks. Technical interviews at ADP usually want a clean project story, one or two CS fundamentals, and (if the process has it) a behavioral or values round. Write STAR stories on paper, not in your head. Practise “Why ADP?” with one concrete product, lab, or business line - not a slogan.
Week 4 - mocks and logistics. Sleep, id photocopies, and a dry run of the oa platform if the invite names one. If you still have energy, redo only the questions you failed in week 2.
| Slice | Share of weekly hours | What “done” looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Timed papers / OA | ~40% | You finish a ADP-style sit without guessing the clock |
| Coding / role technical | ~30% | You can explain a solution out loud in your chosen language |
| Fundamentals / domain | ~20% | You can teach one OS/DBMS/networks (or domain) topic to a friend |
| Stories + HR | ~10% | Two STAR stories and a specific Why-this-company answer |
If you only have 10 days, keep the same ratios and cut volume, not the timed sits.
Use this hub for the ADP story (eligibility, rounds, salary). Use those pages for timed reps and interview notes.
If you do one thing after reading this: schedule three timed ADP papers on three different days, then interview prep on the leftovers.
Figures are candidate-reported India bands (as of August 2026).
| Band | Typical number | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Member Technical / early SWE | ₹6-11 LPA | Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai - offer letter wins |
| Internship stipend (public posts) | ~₹30,000 / month | 3-month internships; PPO possible |
| Older blog lows | ₹4-7 LPA cited in places | Role and year dependent - do not assume |
Confirm base vs variable on the written offer. Intern monthly × 12 is not FTE CTC; a ₹30,000 stipend is a different conversation from the ₹6-11 LPA Member Technical band. If HR asks expectation, anchor to the reported band and ask how they split fixed vs variable rather than inventing a number from a 2019 blog. Hyderabad vs Pune vs Chennai HRA and food costs move take-home more than students model on a spreadsheet the night before. Read joining bonus (if any) as one-time, not as year-two CTC.
Know the ₹6-11 LPA context, ask split, ask joining vs exams. For internships, ask PPO criteria without sounding entitled on day one.
Honour the clocks even in practice. If your mock platform does not lock sections, lock them yourself with a phone timer.
Aptitude (15 min): 15 questions. Budget 50-55 seconds. Mark and skip any DI set that needs a full table rebuild. Come back only if the section is still open - many students report it is not.
Logical (25 min): 25 questions. Arrangements: if you cannot place three variables in 40 seconds, guess-flag and leave. Syllogisms: Venn on scrap, do not philosophise.
Technical (40 min): 20 questions, 2 marks each in the Set 1 write-up - this is where ranks move. Java output, OOPs, DBMS, OS, CN. Do not spend six minutes on one pointer-in-C surprise if Java polymorphism is still unanswered.
After the mock, tag every miss: speed, concept, or carelessness. Carelessness (misread “not”) is the cheapest category to kill with slower reading, not more YouTube.
Compile-time: overloading - same name, different parameter lists, resolved by the compiler. Runtime: overriding - subclass method, resolved by the object’s actual type. Give one Java-shaped example each (Calculator.add vs Animal.speak / Dog.speak). If they ask “which does ADP care about,” say both show up in MCQs and interviews; runtime is what people confuse with overloading.
employees(id, name, dept_id), departments(id, name), payslips(emp_id, month, net).
Explain left join with a sentence HR would understand: “we still see the employee even if the department row is missing.” That is the Set 1 HR energy.
Mutex: one bathroom key. You take it, you return it. Ownership is clear.
Semaphore: a parking lot with N empty slots. You decrement to enter, increment to leave. No single “owner” of the lot.
Code-shaped: mutex around a shared balance update; semaphore around a pool of five DB connections. If you only have the bathroom joke, add the code sentence.
| Intern / GPT intern | Member Technical (Set 1 style) | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | ~60-70 min or Pariksha-style | 80 min 15/25/20 |
| Interviews | 2 tech + HR, or 4 onsite including senior manager | HR often first, then tech, then long managerial |
| SQL | Still everywhere | Still everywhere |
| Extra | Some 2026 JDs mention GenAI tools as a plus | Director-level OS + DSA mix |
PPO is a performance conversation after months, not a prize for clearing HR. Ask the criterion; do not demand it in round 1.
Besides linked-list addition: reverse a list, detect a cycle (fast/slow), binary search first occurrence, Kadane if the written already hinted arrays. Managerial rotated-array: draw the two sorted halves, decide which half is sorted, shrink. Narrate indices. Off-by-one is how otherwise-good candidates die with a senior watching.
Practice on paper or a blank editor. ADP interviews still reward people who can write a loop without autocomplete. If you only ever coded inside Copilot, spend a week without it.
Classic Member Technical: 80-minute written → HR (~30 min, sometimes first) → Technical (~45 min) → Managerial (~60 min). Intern loops may use a shorter screen and 2-3 onsite interviews. Timeline often 2-6 weeks.
Four stages on the well-documented Member Technical cycle. Internship drives sometimes run two technicals then HR. Count the invite.
Yes. Free ADP placement papers PDF and 2024-2026 style practice are on this site. No registration for main downloads. Start with the 2026 PDF or the archive.
Set 1 style: 80 minutes - Aptitude 15Q/15min, Logical 25Q/25min, Technical 20Q/40min (2 marks each). Intern screens may be ~60-70 minutes. Confirm your mailer.
Commonly 6.5+ CGPA or 65%, CS/IT/ECE-related degrees, no active backlogs. Some intern JDs cite 70% across academics or 6.0/60%. Verify the notice.
Candidate-reported ₹6-11 LPA CTC for early-career tech (as of August 2026). Intern stipends around ₹30,000/month appear in public posts. Written offer wins.
Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai are the usual hubs. HR often asks location in the early HR round. Be honest.
About 30% written speed, 30% Java/OOPs+SQL, 25% easy-medium DSA, 15% HR/PPT. Details: preparation guide.
Java, Python, and SQL are the usual set. Pick one coding language you can write on a board. Confirm the invite.
On at least one documented Member Technical drive, HR came right after the written and included PPT comprehension, motivation, and SQL joins. Treat it as a real filter.
Joins with a tiny employee/payroll example, GROUP BY, duplicates, normalization, indexing basics. Verbal explanation matters as much as query syntax.
Global HCM/payroll product company with large India GCCs. Interviews test Java, SQL, and OOPs. Prep is neither pure TCS-NQT nor FAANG system design.
Honour 15/25/40 clocks. Assume HR will ask joins and the PPT. Keep linked-list add, binary search, and mutex vs semaphore cold.
ADP interview experience on this site, plus the PapersAdda/GfG Set 1 Member Technical write-up. Use as maps, not scripts.
Students use the name for some intern/campus screening tests with aptitude plus a heavy technical MCQ block (Java, OOPs, DBMS, OS, CN). It is not necessarily the same 80-minute 15/25/20 Member Technical paper. Follow your invite’s section list.
The documented Member Technical technical round included HTML tag comparison alongside polymorphism and linked-list coding. You do not need a frontend portfolio; you do not want to freeze on basic markup either.
A LeetCode write-up from a campus intern drive: ~990 in the OA, ~29 onsite, nine to tech 2, eight through HR. The author stalled on Pandas syntax they had listed and on PyTorch they could not defend. Tech 2 still asked Collections, ER mapping, SQL, OSI. HR was “basic” for those who reached it. Stipend ~₹30k, Hyderabad, 60%+/6.0 CGPA on that notice.
Takeaway: the resume is a contract. ADP interviewers will cash it. Delete the library. Keep SQL. Sorting algorithms are not optional if they use them as a quick filter.
Set 1’s 15-to-5 after a huge written pool means interviews are real but the written is still the lottery ticket. Students who only mock interviews and skip 15-minute aptitude caps are practising the wrong bottleneck. If you cannot finish 15 quant in 15 minutes this Saturday, that is the only homework.
Use it as a round order and theme list (HR first, linked-list add, rotated array, mutex). Do not memorise their HTML tag answer. Do not assume every 2026 intern drive will put HR first - some intern loops put two technicals then HR. The invite wins. The Set 1 value is “ADP will mix boring web MCQs, SQL speech, and senior-level OS in one loop.” Prep that mix.
Some 2026 Hyderabad intern postings mention Copilot/Cursor and prompt practice. That is a plus, not a substitute for joins. If you have used those tools, say how you verified the output. If you have not, do not fake a GenAI project the night before. SQL still pays the bill.
Small, adult, repeatable. That is ADP.
Written 80 minutes filtered a large pool to 15 interview candidates. HR (~30 min) covered the presentation, motivation, family, projects, SQL joins, and location. Technical (~45 min): polymorphism, linked-list addition, HTML basics. Managerial (~1 hour, director-level): binary search, rotated sorted array, semaphore vs mutex, behaviour. 5 selected. Breadth across aptitude, CS, web basics, and behaviour - not a single LeetCode hard.
A 2023 GPT intern candidate described ADP Pariksha with a heavy technical MCQ section, then interviews that kept returning to DBMS joins and a duplicate-values SQL query. A 2025 VIT-AP style intern drive reported ~990 in the OA, ~29 onsite, two technicals (resume honesty on Pandas/PyTorch hurt when syntax failed), then HR; most who reached HR cleared it. Stipend chatter ~₹30,000/month, Hyderabad.
Takeaway: time-box the written; make SQL bilingual (query + speech); do not decorate the resume; expect a senior managerial that still asks DSA.
More: ADP interview experience.
Share: Java, SQL, OOPs, one medium DSA, timed aptitude if they have a written.
Split: ADP wants payroll/HCM sentences and may put HR first; SAP/Oracle lean ERP/schema and often heavier DSA; ServiceNow leans workflow SaaS. Keep a common morning DSA+SQL block, then 20 minutes of company-specific Why. Do not reuse “I like enterprise software” unchanged in all four rooms.
Days 1-3: only 15-minute aptitude, two sets a day.
Days 4-5: 25-minute logical, skip practice included.
Days 6-7: Java output + DBMS MCQs in 40-minute blocks.
Day 8: full 80.
Day 9: SQL oral + linked-list add.
Day 10: HR PPT + location + sleep.
No new Spring Boot course in this window. ADP is not hiring your unfinished microservice.
An entry engineering role in the India GCC - not a US payroll consultant title, not a campus intern automatically. Work can be product or product-support flavoured by team. Interview bar is still Java/SQL/OOPs. Ask the PPT which team you are being hired into if they say it; do not invent “I will own global payroll architecture” as a fresher.
